Spying on your neighbor is something you should not be doing in real life (well, at least I hope not). But the anxiety to discover what your weird and creepy neighbor is up to on his basement can’t be avoided, unless you’re one of those people who doesn’t really give a thing about their neighbors. The curiosity and anxiety of what it’s like to spy on your neighbor can now be explored in the latest game of “Hello Neighbor”.
“Hello Neighbor” is a first-person game in development from Tiny Build and Dynamic Pixels. It is a stealth horror game that will let you spy on your neighbor but only creepier than voyeurism, much more creepy like Five Nights at Freddy’s.
If you have seen Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window or the movie “Don’t Breathe”, then you already get the idea of what’s about to happen. The only difference is you’re not playing on a wheel-chair bound James Stewart who could only peek through the window with his binoculars, but a full ambulatory curious neighbor.
In the latest game trailer, it shows the myriad ways you can use to trick your neighbor in doing things and will enable you to sneak around his house and hopefully not get caught and/or murdered in the process. Sounds like a piece of cake, right? Well, watch the trailer below and it might give you second thoughts about that…
The Neighbor is governed by artificial intelligence programming that will observe your tactics, learning over time how to anticipate your future behavior based on what you’ve done in the past. Did you just hide yourself in the wardrobe? You might find it locked the next time you try to use it. Enjoyed climbing through the backyard window? Better watch out, a bear trap will get you soon. Did you just sneak on the front door? Notice the cameras now. Oops, he caught you spying! Trying to escape? The Neighbor already found a shortcut to catch you.
The game trailer will give you a few ideas of what can happen inside the game. The thrill of looking at your Neighbor passing by your hiding spot was not enough that they gave it a few chords to give you a jump-scare. The unique art-style and the thrilling game play is unlike any other games I’ve played before. The game is set for release next year but the game-play trailer looks pretty sweet and I can’t wait to play it!
